An example of a spontaneous superstition

The other day my wife told me that a few days earlier my three year old daughter had seen hedgehog while wearing her little nightgown. She had been really taken with the animal and wanted to see it again the next day. So, she asked if she could put on her nightgown again, thinking that if she did she may see the hedgehog. Wondefully cute, really. Also, quite fascinating – why should she have picked on the nightgown as the element of the environment which she related to the hedgehog?
